The businesses that get through this successfully are going to be those who are able to be agile and pivot their strategy to meet the current market behavior. You’re seeing businesses provide curb pick-up and home delivery for the first time; you’re seeing more people order groceries to their home for the first time; you're seeing fashion brands make medical face masks for those in need - overall, it has pushed many of us to adapt to a new norm and try things we’ve never done before. My dad is a small business owner who migrated from Mexico with a 3rd-grade education. He worked in the fields for a decade before realizing this is not the way to the American Dream. He took the chance and started his own kitchen supply business doing in-home cooking demonstrations, something he has been doing for the past 30 years now. His mall stand was shut down due to the shelter-in-place and doing home demonstrations in a time of social distancing is not possible - yesterday he had his first Facebook live demonstration. He’s not tech-savvy and especially doesn’t know his way around social media; he doesn’t have a huge following and didn’t use any fancy equipment. What my dad had was over 30 years of experience and the drive to find a new way to reach his audience although he knew going live would be uncomfortable as it was new for him. The FB live resulted in 6k+ views, 13 shares, 90+ comments, 30 leads and had a $4,000 sale come from it. What I’m trying to say is, if my dad could do it, you can do it too. Find new avenues, be agile, and keep pushing through.
